Practice Information

Clinics & Services

Mather Avenue Surgery provides a range of services including:

Routine and Urgent Appointments

If you require a GP appointment, please phone reception on 0151 427 6239. A routine appointment can be a few weeks away due to high demand on GP services. The Care Navigator will ask for a reason for the appointment. This is to help them determine the best clinician for you to see. However, you do not have to give a reason if you do not want to.

Antenatal

The practice offers a programme of care for expectant mothers, in conjunction with the midwife and Liverpool Women’s Hospital Obstetric Unit. If you think you are pregnant then arrange to see the Doctor or Midwife. The antenatal clinic is run by the midwife on a Tuesday afternoon from 13:00 to 16:00 by appointment only.

Well Baby Clinic

Please contact reception for more information about our baby clinic.

Contraception / Family planning

Contraceptive advice and services can be given by the doctors or the practice nurse. There is a locally ran coil fitting service. To find out more call reception on 0151 427 6239. Axess run various sexual health services for the city.

Child Health

There is a full programme of child health care in the practice involving the doctors, nurses and health visitors. Routine examination, developmental assessments and immunisations are offered at appropriate intervals at our Child Health Clinic.

We will inform you when these are due.

Unwell babies should be seen during routine hours.

Health Promotion

We are keen to promote health and to prevent illness where possible. You may therefore be asked to answer a health promotion sheet or be invited to attend a health promotion activity such as blood pressure check, advice about diet or exercise etc.
