Website Privacy policy

Mather Avenue Surgery is responsible for managing this website and takes the privacy of visitors seriously.

This notice explains how information is used when you visit our website. Information about how the practice uses patient records is available in our separate patient privacy notice.

Information collected when you visit

You can browse this website without providing your name or contact details. The website does not host patient enquiry, registration or consultation forms. Where these services are available online, we link to external providers.

Our website hosting systems may record technical information, including your IP address, the date and time of your visit, browser and operating system, referring page, pages or files requested, and whether requests were successful.

This information supports the operation, security and troubleshooting of the website. Technical information such as IP addresses may constitute personal data, even where we do not know your name.

Cookies and Google Analytics

We use a cookie to remember your cookie preferences. When you save your choice, this cookie lasts for 90 days.

We also use Google Analytics to help us understand how visitors use the website and identify improvements. Analytics is switched off by default and is only activated if you accept analytics cookies.

If you accept, Google Analytics processes information about your visit, such as the pages you view and how you interact with the website. This information may include online identifiers and device information.

You can accept or reject analytics cookies, or change your choice at any time, through the Cookie Settings page. You can continue to use the website if you reject analytics cookies.

Optional maps, catchment checker and other features

Some pages offer features provided by other organisations, including Google Maps, the NHS catchment checker, the Care Quality Commission rating widget and, where enabled, Google Translate.

These features do not load automatically. An explanation and a load button are shown first. Choosing to load a feature connects your browser to its provider, which receives technical information such as your IP address and browser details. Depending on the service, the provider may also use cookies or similar technologies.

If you enter an address or postcode into the catchment checker, that information is sent to the external catchment service.

These choices are separate from your Google Analytics preference. Rejecting analytics cookies does not prevent you from choosing to load an optional feature.

Your choice to load a feature is not saved for future page visits. Where a hide button is available, it removes the embedded feature from the current page. It does not delete information already sent to the provider or remove cookies the provider has already set.

External links and videos

Videos are provided as links to YouTube rather than automatically loaded players. Following a video link takes you to YouTube, where its privacy and cookie policies apply.

The website also links to other external services, including Blinx and NHS online registration. Information you submit through those services is handled under the privacy arrangements explained by the practice and the relevant provider.

Please review the privacy and cookie information provided by external services before using them.

Fonts and icons

Some fonts and icons are loaded from NHS and external asset servers when you visit the website. Your browser connects to these providers to retrieve the files, which discloses technical information such as your IP address and browser details.

Protecting your information

We use technical and organisational measures to protect information processed through the website. Information may be processed by organisations supporting website hosting, security, analytics and the external features described above.

Children and young people

Children and young people can access the information on this website. We aim to explain our use of information clearly. Analytics is switched off by default, and optional embedded features only load when a visitor chooses to load them.

Questions and your rights

You have rights under data protection law in relation to your personal information. These rights depend on the circumstances and how your information is used.

If you have questions about this notice or wish to exercise your rights, please contact Mather Avenue Surgery using the details on our Contact Us page.

You can also raise concerns about the use of your personal information with the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
